Notes: Many don’t realize that before Phish’s tradition of covering another band’s classic album on Halloween there was the tradition of playing a Halloween gig at Goddard College’s Sculpture Room.  This was the first of four Halloween shows in this room and perhaps when and where the band began to develop their “you had to be there” type event.

This Harry Hood, specifically, is the one that many phans point to as the first great version. And for good reason; even though it may prove to be the shortest Hood ever (clocking at 8:31), Section C really cooks like it hadn’t to this date.  Trey starts the jam very slowly and builds to the quintessential crescendo that we have come to love and expect from each subsequent version.
